World Archery announced a bylaw change, effective Jan. 15, 2022, that reduces the shooting time in qualification and individual Olympic, compound and indoor rounds from 40 seconds per arrow to just 30 seconds. For Para-archery rounds, the time will be extended by 10 seconds.
Para Archery
New format
At its last meeting, the executive board accepted para archery committee’s proposal to replace team events (three athletes) with doubles, applicable from 15 January 2022. Such a format is more adapted to the number of participants in the discipline, few countries being able to enter teams of three archers in some divisions. It should allow more female and W1 participation, and more countries in team events. The World Archery Para Championships in Dubai in February will award the first world titles in doubles.
