On 30 April 2026 at the Shah Alam National Sports Complex, three Malaysian archers stepped onto the 50-metre line and delivered one of the finest barebow team performances ever recorded. Shooting 216 arrows across two distances, Khairul Anuar Mohamad, Norhisyam Ismail and Mohd Zaidi Bin Hashim combined for 1864 points โ 18 ahead of the previous world record.

Together, their combined score of 1864 points surpasses the previous world record of 1846, which was set in November 2022 by the United States' Marcus Cooley, Rick Stonebraker and Matt Yacca. The score was recorded as an official result during the National category qualification round, and has since been ratified by World Archery as the new official world record.
Vietnam Also Surpassed the Old Mark
Vietnam's team of Chi Thien Ha, Ho Bao Dien Truong and Manh Cuong Tran also eclipsed the former world record, posting 1855 points to finish second in qualification โ underlining the extraordinary quality of shooting on display in Shah Alam.
The fact that two teams surpassed what was previously the world's best mark in a single qualification round speaks to the rising calibre of barebow archery across Asia. Malaysia leads the pack, but Vietnam's performance demonstrates that the region is producing world-class talent at an accelerating pace.
